WACO, Texas – The two teams tied for sixth place in the Big 12 volleyball standings will square off Saturday at the Ferrell Center at Noon. Baylor (12-18, 4-10) plays host to West Virginia (18-12, 4-10) as the Bears say goodbye to two seniors in the final home match of the season.
Baylor’s Kayci Evans and Zoe Adom, each four-year lettermen, will play their final games in a Bears uniform. Both players are 3-time Academic All-Big 12 selections, and both are posting the best statistical seasons of their careers as seniors.
Adom is 26 kills shy of reaching 900 kills for her career, and the Euless, Texas native has 320 kills on the season, passing her previous season-high of 254 her sophomore season in 2011.
Evans, the San Antonio native, is seven digs shy of 600 for her career with 265 on the season, passing her previous season high of 193 as a junior in 2012.
The two will try to leave the Ferrell Center Saturday with a victory in their final game, and will also be looking for a season sweep of WVU. The Bears defeated the Mountaineers in three sets in Morgantown, W. Va. Oct. 9.
Thea Munch-Soegaard and Adom led Baylor with 11 and 10 kills respectively in the victory while WVU’s Jordan Anderson – who ranks second in the Big 12 in kills per set (3.92) – led the Mountaineers in the loss with 17 kills.
Baylor leads the all-time series with West Virginia, 6-0. The Mountaineers are coming off a 3-set loss to No. 1-ranked Texas Wednesday while Baylor lost in three sets on the road to KSU Wednesday as well.
