Baylor hits the road for the 2007 regular season finale as the Bears face off against Texas A&M on Saturday night at G. Rollie White Colisuem. Baylor is currently riding a six-match losing streak following four straight matches against ranked opponents.
The Bears are coming off a 3-0 loss to second-ranked Nebraska on Wednesday night in the final regular season home match. Seniors Amanda Modglin and Kristen Schramek were honored prior to the match.
Jordan Larson tallied 12 kills and Tracy Stalls and Sarah Pavan tallied10 kills apiece for Nebraska. The Cornhuskers hit at a .319 (49-12-116) clip and registered nine service aces.
Ashlie Christenson and Modglin each recorded seven kills to lead Baylor, while Taylor Barnes added five kills. Kelsey Smith and Mady Bates each tallied a service ace for the Bears.
Sarah Grace recorded a team-high 13 digs, while Smith and Barnes added nine and eight digs, respectively. Modglin also recorded three total blocks.
Texas A&M enters the match on a two-match winning streak. The Aggies defeated Missouri and Colorado last week and are tied with Missouri for sixth place in the Big 12 standings, three games clear of Baylor in eighth place. Prior to its two-match winning streak, Texas A&M lost three straight contests against Kansas State, Texas and Nebraska.
Sarah Ammerman leads the Aggies with 428 kills and a 4.37 kills per game average. Mary Batis has tallied 360 kills, while Kelly Stanton, Kelsey Bryant and Jillian Phillips have each recorded over 200 kills this season. Kristen Schevikhoven has tallied 1,206 set assists, while Batis leads the team with 3.57 digs per game. The Aggies have three players that average more than 1.00 blocks per game, led by Phillips at 1.19 bpg.
