Baylor closes the season against UT, the Longhorns are on an 18-match win streak

WACO, Texas – Baylor’s volleyball team will close its season Saturday at 4 p.m. against defending NCAA champs and No. 1-ranked Texas in Austin at Gregory Gym. The Bears (12-19, 4-11) will face the Longhorns (22-2, 15-0), who are on an 18-match winning streak, headed into the NCAA Tournament in both teams’ regular-season finale.

Texas is unbeaten in Big 12 play this season and is coming off a 3-1 victory over Iowa State Wednesday. The Longhorns have lost only seven sets the entire season in Big 12 play, one of which came to Baylor in the teams’ last meeting, Oct. 2 in Waco.

The Longhorns took the match in four sets in a nationally-televised broadcast with Haley Eckerman leading UT with 15 kills while the Longhorns hit .299 as a team. Baylor’s Zoe Adom had 13 kills and Nicole Bardaji had 10 in the loss.

The Bears are 0-35 all-time vs. Texas in Austin, and the Longhorns lead the all-time series with Baylor, 72-2. Baylor’s Adom, and Kayci Evans will play their final matches as Bears Saturday; both players are four-year lettermen for head coach Jim Barnes.
