Volleyball 2011 Season Highlights

WACO, Texas - Baylor's volleyball team recorded an unprecedented fourth consecutive winning season, along with its second NCAA berth in the past three seasons during a successful 2011 campaign.

2011 Volleyball Season Highlights
- Finished season with 18-15 record, 5-11 in Big 12 to finish seventh
- Earned fourth-ever bid to NCAA Championship and second in last three years
- Recorded fourth consecutive winning season for first time in program history
- Set all-time attendance average record with 873 fans per match totaling 11,355
- Senior Briana Tolbert named First Team All-Big 12, marking fourth consecutive year for MB at Baylor to be name to the Big 12’s top all-conference team
- Tied program-best with six student-athletes on Academic All-Big 12 Team
- Coach Jim Barnes earned his BU-record 130th win at Baylor on Oct. 5 in sweep over Texas Tech
- Won two pre-conference tournament titles, taking the Baylor Classic and UNLV Classic titles
- Eclipsed 2,000-dig plateau for seventh time in BU history, notching fifth-best total ever at 2,197
- Had season-high seven-match win streak from Aug. 27-Sept. 9
- Recorded highest-ranked victory of season over No. 25 Oklahoma on the road, 3-1
- One of just 92 teams named an AVCA All-Academic team for the 2010-11 academic year

2011 AVCA All-Region Candidates
Senior Libero Allison King
- Served as libero and primary passer, started all 33 matches this season and played in all 126 sets
- Broke all-time Big 12 and Baylor single-season record for digs totaling 653 on season
- Leads team and is second in Big 12 with 5.18 digs per set
- Broke Baylor career record and moved into second all-time in the Big 12 with 2,110
- Earned Academic All-Big 12 Second Team honors
- Named Top Defensive Player and all-tournament team at Baylor Classic
- Earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors on Nov. 7
- Recorded at least 10 digs in a current string of 31 consecutive matches and 32 of 33 matches
- Racked up at least 20 digs on 13 occasions and had a career-high 34 in win over Texas State
- Has a .968 reception percentage in 745 total chances
- Recorded a perfect 1.000 reception percentage in 17 matches, including 13 of last 17
- Recorded 20 digs and 10 set assists for a double-double in a five-set win at UNLV

Senior Middle Blocker Briana Tolbert
- Started all 33 matches and played in all 126 sets this season
- Leads team in kills with 352, kills per set at 2.79 and hitting percentage at .333, while ranking second in blocks with 105 and blocks per set at 0.83
- Earned All-Tournament honors at Purdue Mortar Board Premier, Baylor Classic and UNLV Classic
- Earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 10, after hitting .500 with 4.12 kills per set in BU's back-to-back league wins over Texas Tech and Missouri
- Notched 18 matches with at least 10 kills, including a career-high 19 in win over No. 25 OU
- Hit over .350 in 17 matches for Baylor, including the seventh-best performance in the Big 12 this season with a .714 (16-1-21) in a three set win over College of Charleston
- Had at least one block in all 33 matches, notching at least 4.0 total blocks on 11 occasions
- Racked up at least 10.0 points in 24 of 33 matches this season.
